Soldier dead in Sikkim flood cremated in native Beed village
The last rites of Army soldier Pandurang Taware, who died in the Sikkim flash floods, were performed with military honours. Taware's body was brought to Pune airport for a military function and then taken to his village for the last rites. He served in the Indian Army for 14 years and also served in African nations under the United Nations peacekeeping mandate. Taware's body was kept in the village for citizens to pay their respects before the last rites. He was one of the many soldiers who lost their lives in the floods.
