India gives a different identity to yoga at the World level – Union Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw.
New Delhi :- NDMC in coordination with the Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India and 6 yoga institutions observed International Day of Yoga at 08 prominent locations with around 10,000 participants who performed the common protocol of yoga on the occasion. Union Railway Minister and Information & Broadcasting, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw participated alongwith Member NDMC Smt. Vishakha Shailani, Secretary, Ministry of Information Broadcasting- Shri Sanjay Jaju and Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Volunteers of Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Officials of Railways including 1500 participants in the yoga program organized by NDMC in Lodhi Garden today.
Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw attended the entire yoga program and also participated in the yoga protocol performance. During this, Ashwini Vaishnaw said that India gives a different identity to Yoga. Today people are doing yoga all over the world for their physical and mental fitness. A large population has been increasing towards this yoga in the last decade. After participating in the Yoga Programme at Nehru Park, NDMC Vice-Chairman Shri Satish Upadhyay said that Yoga not only provides physical flexibility and mental peace but it also improves our overall health extensively. In today's fast-changing life, Yoga is an important means to bring balance in our lifestyle. We are glad that so many people joined the event and experienced the benefits of Yoga. Shri Upadhyay informed that the main events were organized by NDMC at 08 prominent locations like Nehru Park, Lodhi Garden, Talkatora Garden, Kartavya Path, IAS Residential Complex, New Moti Bagh, Sanjay Jheel - Lakshmi Bai Nagar, Singapore Park - Chanakyapuri and Central Park - Connaught Place in New Delhi.
Beside the 08 prominent locations, Yoga protocol events were also held at NDMC Old Age Home, Working Women Hostel, Resident Welfare Associations and different Offices. NDMC collaborated with Art of Living, Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Gayatri Parivar, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Isha Yoga Centre, The Yoga Institute, Akhil Bhartiya Yoga Shikshak Mahasangh and Bhartiya Yog Sansthan for the success of the International Day of Yoga 2024 in New Delhi area. NDMC arranged the live telecast of the address by recorded messages by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India from Srinagar, on LED screens at eight venues of Yoga Protocol for participants.
In order to facilitate wider participation in the celebration of International Day of Yoga and make the program successful, NDMC made necessary arrangements of civic and basic amenities including potable water, mobile toilets, ambulance and first-aid desk along with providing Yoga mats and T-shirts. NDMC deployed around 1000 manpower under the supervision of around 10 nodal officers at all 08 locations.
NDMC had also rope up the event from 18th June to 20th June by organizing Yoga Build Camps at Nehru Park, Talkatora Garden and Lodhi Garden in association with partner yoga institutions for successful organization of International Day of Yoga 2024.
