Khadi Sector Hits Record Rs 1.87 Lakh Crore Sales in FY 2025-26Production up 380%, Sales up 501% in 12 Years
New Delhi:- Khadi and Village Industries Commission KVIC achieved a historic milestone in FY 2025-26 as sales of Khadi and Village Industries products crossed Rs 1.87 lakh crore for the first time. KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar released the provisional figures at Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat on Saturday.5-fold growth in 12 years
Compared to 2013-14, the sector recorded 380% growth in production and 501% growth in sales over the last 12 years. Production rose from Rs 26,109 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 1,25,296 crore in 2025-26. Sales jumped from Rs 31,154 crore to Rs 1,87,105 crore, marking the highest ever.Chairman Manoj Kumar credited the growth to PM Narendra Modi’s vision and campaigns like 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat', 'Vocal for Local' and 'Local to Global'. "Khadi is no longer just a traditional product. It has become a vibrant symbol of New India's self-reliant and indigenous pride," he said.Employment crosses 2.04 crore
Employment generation also saw strong growth. Jobs in Khadi and Village Industries increased 56% from 1.30 crore in 2013-14 to 2.04 crore in 2025-26. Women constitute over 80% of the 5 lakh artisans in the Khadi sector.Khadi textiles, village industries surge
Khadi textile production grew 390% to Rs 3,974 crore, while sales rose 628% to Rs 7,869 crore. In village industries, production climbed 380% to Rs 1,21,322 crore and sales grew 496% to Rs 1,79,236 crore.PMEGP creates 7.31 lakh jobs
Under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme PMEGP, 66,494 new units were set up in 2025-26 with margin money subsidy of Rs 2,457 crore against loans worth Rs 7,375 crore. These units provided employment to 7.31 lakh people. Since inception, 10.84 lakh units have been established, generating jobs for 97.95 lakh people.Artisan wages up 275%

In FY 2025-26, 47,382 of 79,682 trainees under KVIC programs were women, about 59%. Under PMEGP, 28,180 women entrepreneurs set up units, creating jobs for 3.09 lakh women.KVIC said this performance is accelerating the 'Viksit Bharat@2047' vision and strengthening India’s position among leading global economies.
