Newly-enacted criminal laws to come into effect from July 1
These laws will replace the British-era Indian Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Indian Evidence Act of 1872. They aim at completely overhauling the criminal justice system in the country. As per the new laws, generation and supply of records will be in electronic form like zero-FIR, e-FIR, chargesheet and victims will be provided information in digital form.
