New Delhi :- VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital observed the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPwD) with a series of inclusive and impactful activities coordinated & organized by the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR). The event featured two street plays presented by resident doctors & BPO students, highlighting the importance of accessibility, empathy & social inclusion. A vibrant walkathon by Divyang participants inspired all with their spirit and determination. To encourage creativity and awareness, poster-making competitions & quiz were organized for MBBS and nursing students, a ong with a poetry competition centered on disability inclusion and empowerment. As part of the day’s meaningful initiatives, wheelchairs were distributed to beneficiaries, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to accessibility.
The program also included the felicitation of ‘Saksham – Ek Abhiyaan’ NGO for its dedicated work in supporting persons with disabilities. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sandeep Bansal Director commended the collective efforts towards fostering a more inclusive society. The Medical Superintendent Dr Charu Bamba highlighted the hospital’s ongoing initiatives for patient-centered accessibility, while the Head of PMR Dr Ajay Gupta emphasized the role of awareness & community participation in advancing disability rights. VMMC & SJH reaffirms its commitment to promoting equity, dignity and opportunities for persons with disabilities. The event was graced by Addl MS Dr R P Saini, DDA Mr Ashok Pal , PMR faculty, staff & PwDs.
