Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple Flag Hoisting Ceremony

PM's speech during the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple Flag Hoisting Ceremony

Jai Siyavar Ram Chandra!

Governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel, the most revered Sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, the President of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, the revered Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, the revered saint community, all the devotees present here, the millions of Ram devotees from across the country and the world who are witnessing this historic moment, ladies and gentlemen! Today, the city of Ayodhya is witnessing another turning point in India's cultural consciousness. Today, all of India, the entire world, is filled with Ram. In the heart of every Ram devotee, there is unparalleled satisfaction, boundless gratitude, and immense supernatural joy. Centuries of wounds are healing, centuries of pain are finally finding solace, and centuries of resolve are finally achieving fulfillment. Today marks the final offering of a yagya whose fire burned for 500 years. A yagya that never wavered in faith, never lost its belief. Today, the infinite energy of Lord Shri Ram's sanctum sanctorum, the divine brilliance of Shri Ram's family, has been enshrined in this most divine and magnificent temple in the form of this flag of Dharma.

This Dharma Dhwaja is not just a flag; it is the flag of the renaissance of Indian civilization. Its saffron color, the fame of the Suryavansh inscribed on it, the Om word inscribed on it, and the Kovidar tree inscribed on it represent the glory of Ramrajya. This flag is a resolution, this flag is a success. This flag is a saga of creation through struggle; this flag is the embodiment of dreams that have been cherished for centuries. This flag is the meaningful culmination of the spiritual practice of saints and the participation of society

Friends, for centuries and millennia to come, this flag of Dharma will proclaim the ideals and principles of Lord Rama. This flag of Dharma will call out, "Satyameva Jayate Naanritam!" Meaning, "Truth alone triumphs, not falsehood." This flag of Dharma will proclaim, "Satyam-Ekapadam Brahma Satya Dharmah Pratishthaah." Meaning, "Truth is the essence of Brahman; Dharma is established in truth." This flag of Dharma will inspire, "Praana Jaaye Par Vachan Na Jaahin." Meaning, "What is said must be done." This flag of Dharma will convey the message, "Karma Pradhan Vishwa Rachi Rakha!" Meaning, "Work and duty should predominate in the world." This flag of Dharma will wish, "Bair Na Vigrah Aas Na Trasa. Sukhmay Tahi Sada Sab Aasa." Meaning, freedom from discrimination, pain, and suffering, and peace and happiness in society. This flag of Dharma will inspire us, "No one should be poor, no one should be sad, no one should be downtrodden." That is, we should create a society where there is no poverty, no one is unhappy or helpless.

It is said in our scriptures: "Aaropaṃ dhwajaṃ drśtvaṃ, ye abhinandanti dharmikaḥ. Te api sarve pramuchyante, maha paatak kotibhiḥ." Meaning, those who are unable to come to the temple for some reason and yet salute the temple flag from a distance also receive the same amount of merit

This flag also symbolizes the temple's mission. This flag will provide a glimpse of Ram Lalla's birthplace from afar. And, for ages to come, it will convey the commands and inspirations of Lord Shri Ram to all mankind.

I extend my heartfelt greetings to the millions of Ram devotees across the world on this unforgettable moment, this unique occasion. Today, I also salute all those devotees and express my gratitude to every philanthropist who contributed to the construction of the Ram Temple. I congratulate every laborer, every artisan, every planner, every architect, and everyone involved in the construction of the Ram Temple

Ayodhya is the land where ideals transform into conduct. This is the city where Shri Ram began his life's journey. This Ayodhya showed the world how a person becomes the best man through the power of society and its values. When Shri Ram left Ayodhya for exile, he was Prince Ram, but when he returned, he became the most virtuous man. And in his becoming the most virtuous man, the knowledge of Maharishi Vashistha, the initiation of Maharishi Vishwamitra, the guidance of Maharishi Agastya, the friendship of Nishadraj, the love of Mother Shabari, the dedication of devotee Hanuman—all of these, along with countless such people, played an important role

This collective power of society is also needed to build a developed India. I am very happy that this divine courtyard of the Ram Temple is also becoming a place of consciousness of India's collective strength. Seven temples have been built here. The temple of Mata Shabari, embodying the love and hospitality of the tribal society, is also located here. The temple of Nishadraj is also built here, witnessing a friendship that worships the goal, its spirit, not the means. Here, in one place, are Mother Ahalya, Maharishi Valmiki, Maharishi Vashistha, Maharishi Vishwamitra, Maharishi Agastya, and Saint Tulsidas. Along with Ram Lalla, all these sages can be seen here. There are also statues of Jatayu and the squirrel, which demonstrate the importance of every small effort for the accomplishment of big resolutions. Today, I would like to urge every citizen of the country that whenever they visit the Ram Temple, they must also visit the Sapt Mandir. These temples strengthen our faith as well as the values of friendship, duty and social harmony.

Friends, for centuries and millennia to come, this flag of Dharma will proclaim the ideals and principles of Lord Rama. This flag of Dharma will call out, "Satyameva Jayate Naanritam!" This flag of Dharma will inspire us, "No one should be poor, no one should be sad, no one should be downtrodden." That is, we should create a society where there is no poverty, no one is unhappy or helpless.

We all know that our Ram connects not with distinctions but with feelings. For him, it's not a person's lineage that matters, but their devotion. He values values, not lineage. He values cooperation, not power. Today, we too are moving forward with the same spirit. In the last 11 years, every section of society—women, Dalits, backward classes, extremely backward classes, tribals, the deprived, farmers, workers, youth—has been placed at the center of development. When every person, every section, every region of the country is empowered, then everyone's efforts will be put into achieving the resolution. And it is through everyone's efforts that we must build a developed India by 2047, when the country celebrates 100 years of independence.

Friends, for centuries and millennia to come, this flag of Dharma will proclaim the ideals and principles of Lord Rama. This flag of Dharma will call out, "Satyameva Jayate Naanritam!" Meaning, "Truth alone triumphs, not falsehood." This flag of Dharma will proclaim, "Satyam-Ekapadam Brahma Satya Dharmah Pratishthaah." Meaning, "Truth is the essence of Brahman; Dharma is established in truth." This flag of Dharma will inspire, "Praana Jaaye Par Vachan Na Jaahin." Meaning, "What is said must be done." This flag of Dharma will inspire us, "No one should be poor, no one should be sad, no one should be downtrodden." That is, we should create a society where there is no poverty, no one is unhappy or helpless.

On the historic occasion of the consecration of Ram Lalla, I discussed the nation's resolve with Ram. I said that we must strengthen India's foundation for a thousand years to come. We must remember that those who think only of the present do injustice to future generations. We must think about the present as well as future generations. Because, this country existed even when we were not there, and it will exist even when we are gone. We are a vibrant society; we must act with vision. We must keep in mind the coming decades and centuries.

For this too, we must learn from Lord Rama. We must understand his personality, we must imbibe his behavior, we must remember that Rama means ideals, Rama means dignity, Rama means the highest character in life. Rama means the confluence of truth and valor, “divyagunaiḥ shakrasamo ramaḥ satyaparakramaḥ.” Rama means a person who walks the path of righteousness, “Ramaḥ satpuruḥ loke satyaḥ satyaparayanaḥ.” Rama means putting the happiness of the people above all else, “prajaa sukhtve chandrasya.” Rama means an ocean of patience and forgiveness, “vasudhaayaḥ kshamagunaiḥ.” Rama means the pinnacle of wisdom and discretion, “buddhaya brhaspateḥ tulyah.” Rama means firmness in gentleness, “mridupurvam cha bhasate.” Rama means the supreme example of gratitude, “kadāchan nopakarena, kṛtinaikena tushyati.” Ram means- selection of good company, character, growth, knowledge, growth, age, and kindness. Ram means- great strength in humility, courage, courage, great self-confidence. Ram means- unwavering resolve for truth, “do not speak untruthful words, learned man”. Ram means- alert, disciplined and sincere mind, “nistandrih apramattah cha, swa dosh par dosh vit.”

Ram is not just a person; Ram is a value, a dignity, a direction. If we are to develop India by 2047, if we are to empower society, we must awaken the "Ram" within us. We must consecrate the Ram within us, and what better day than today to make this resolution?

This historic day of November 25th brings another wonderful moment of pride in our heritage. The reason is the Kovidar tree inscribed on the flag. This Kovidar tree is an example of how when we are cut off from our roots, our glory is buried in the pages of history

When Bharata arrived at Chitrakoot with his army, Lakshmana recognized the army of Ayodhya from afar. Valmiki has described how this happened, and what Valmiki has described is this: "Virajati udgata Skandham, Kovidara Dhwaja Rathe." Lakshmana says, "O Rama, the flag that looks like a huge tree in the bright light ahead is the flag of the army of Ayodhya, and it bears the auspicious symbol of Kovidara."

Today, when the Kovidar is being re-established in the courtyard of the Ram Temple, it is not just the return of a tree; it is the return of our memory, the renaissance of our identity, the re-assertion of our self-respecting civilization. The Kovidar tree reminds us that when we forget our identity, we lose ourselves. And when identity returns, so does the nation's self-confidence. And so I say, if the country is to progress, it must be proud of its heritage.

Along with pride in our heritage, another important thing is complete liberation from the mentality of slavery. 190 years ago, in 1835, an Englishman named Macaulay sowed the seeds of uprooting India from its roots. Macaulay laid the foundation of mental slavery in India. Ten years later, in 2035, that unholy event will complete 200 years. Just a few days ago, I urged at a program that for the next ten years, we must move forward with the goal of liberating India from the mentality of slavery.

The greatest misfortune is that the impact of Macaulay's vision has been far more widespread. We gained independence, but we haven't been freed from our inferiority complex. A myth has crept into our country that everything foreign, every system, is good, while our own things are flawed

It is this mentality of slavery which has continuously established that we took democracy from foreign countries, it was said that our Constitution is also inspired from abroad, whereas the truth is that India is the mother of democracy, democracy is in our DNA.

If you go to Tamil Nadu, there's the village of Uttiramerur in northern Tamil Nadu. There's an inscription dating back thousands of years. It describes how democratic governance was practiced even in those days, how people elected their government. But in our country, the practice of praising the Magna Carta persisted. Even information about Lord Basavanna and his Anubhava Mantapa was kept limited. Anubhava Mantapa was a place where public debates on social, religious, and economic issues took place, where decisions were made through collective consensus. But due to the slave mentality, many generations of India were deprived of even this knowledge.

This mentality of slavery had permeated every corner of our system. Remember the Indian Navy flag? For centuries, symbols bearing no connection to our civilization, our strength, our heritage. Now, we have removed every symbol of slavery from the Navy flag. We have enshrined the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. And this wasn't just a design change; it was a moment of mentality shift. It was a declaration that India would now be defined by its own strength and its own symbols, not by anyone else's legacy.

This same change is visible in Ayodhya today. It is this mentality of slavery that has denied the essence of Ram for so many years. Lord Ram is a value system in itself. From King Ram of Orchha to the devotee Ram of Rameshwaram, and from Lord Ram of Shabari to the guest Ram of Mithila, Ram is present in every home in India, in the heart of every Indian, and in every particle of India. But the mentality of slavery has become so dominant that even Lord Ram is being declared imaginary

If we resolve to achieve complete freedom from mental slavery within the next ten years, then such a flame will be ignited, such confidence will grow, that no one will be able to stop India from achieving its dream of a developed India by 2047. India's foundation will be strong for the next thousand years only when we completely destroy Macaulay's project of slavery within the next ten years.

The Ram Lalla temple complex in Ayodhya Dham is becoming ever grander, and the work of beautifying Ayodhya is continuing. Today, Ayodhya is once again becoming a city that will set an example for the world. The Ayodhya of the Treta Yuga gave humanity ethics, and the Ayodhya of the 21st century is giving humanity a new model of development. Back then, Ayodhya was the center of dignity, and now Ayodhya is emerging as the backbone of a developed India.

The Ayodhya of the future will be a confluence of mythology and modernity. The nectar of the Saryu River and the stream of development will flow together. Here, a synergy of both spirituality and artificial intelligence will be visible. The Ram Path, the Path of Devotion, and the Janmabhoomi Path offer glimpses of the new Ayodhya. Ayodhya boasts a magnificent airport and a magnificent railway station. Trains like the Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat Express connect Ayodhya to the rest of the country. Continuous work is underway to ensure that the residents of Ayodhya receive amenities and bring prosperity to their lives

Since the consecration ceremony, approximately 450 million devotees have visited this place. This is the sacred land where the feet of 450 million people have trodden. This has brought about economic change and increased incomes for the people of Ayodhya and its surrounding areas. Once lagging behind in development, today the city of Ayodhya is becoming one of the leading cities in Uttar Pradesh.

Friends, for centuries and millennia to come, this flag of Dharma will proclaim the ideals and principles of Lord Rama. This flag of Dharma will call out, "Satyameva Jayate Naanritam!" Meaning, "Truth alone triumphs, not falsehood." This flag of Dharma will proclaim, "Satyam-Ekapadam Brahma Satya Dharmah Pratishthaah." Meaning, "Truth is the essence of Brahman; Dharma is established in truth." This flag of Dharma will inspire, "Praana Jaaye Par Vachan Na Jaahin." Meaning, "What is said must be done." The coming 21st century is crucial. In the 70 years since independence, India became the world's 11th largest economy, and in the last 70 years, it became the 11th largest. But in the last 11 years alone, India has become the world's fifth largest economy. And the day is not far when India will also become the world's third largest economy. The coming time is a time of new opportunities, of new possibilities. And even in this crucial period, the thoughts of Lord Rama will serve as our inspiration. When Shri Ram faced the monumental goal of defeating Ravana, he said, "Souraj Dheeraj Tehi Rath Chaka. Satya Seel Dridh Dhwaja Pataka. Bal Vivek Dam Parhit Ghore. Chhama Kripa Samata Raju Jore." Meaning, the chariot needed to conquer Ravana requires courage and patience as its wheels. Its flag is truth and good conduct. Strength, discretion, restraint, and charity are the horses of this chariot. Forgiveness, kindness, and equality serve as the reins, keeping the chariot in the right direction.

To accelerate the journey towards a developed India, we need a chariot whose wheels are valor and patience. That is, the courage to face challenges and the patience to persevere until results are achieved. A chariot whose flag is truth and supreme conduct, meaning that there is no compromise on policy, intentions, and morality. A chariot whose horses are strength, discretion, restraint, and altruism, meaning that there is power, wisdom, discipline, and a concern for the welfare of others. A chariot whose reins are forgiveness, compassion, and equanimity, meaning that there is no arrogance of success, and respect for others remains intact even in failure. And so I respectfully say, this is the moment to stand shoulder to shoulder, this is the moment to accelerate. We must build an India inspired by Ramrajya. And this is possible only when the interest of the country comes before self-interest. When national interest is paramount. Once again, I extend my best wishes to all of you.

Jai Siyaram!
