Vocational Guidance Section Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) Hosts Exhibition

New Delhi:- Vocational Guidance Section of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR), VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, inaugurated a four-day exhibition and sale eaturing utility items and garments crafted by persons with disabilities undergoing rehabilitation management at the hospital. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Sandeep Bansal, Director, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, who reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to comprehensive rehabilitation. “PMR is not just about physical recovery; it is about empowering individuals and integrating them into society with independence and dignity. This exhibition reflects our dedication to enhancing skills and supporting financial self-reliance among persons with disabilities,” he stated.

 Dr. Charu Bamba Medical Superintendent emphasized the importance of inclusive and practical training modules that equip patients with meaningful skills during their rehabilitation journey. She highlighted how such initiatives strengthen confidence and facilitate smoother reintegration into their communities. Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Geetika Khanna, Principal, VMMC, appreciated the initiative and highlighted its impact on holistic rehabilitation. “This exhibition is a testament to the transformative efforts of the PMR team. By fostering functional skills and confidence, such platforms empower patients to move towards independence and self-reliance,” she noted. Dr. Ajay Gupta, Head of Department, PMR, applauded the creativity and determination of the patients. “Our patients are not merely recipients of clinical care; they are evolving into skilled creators. Each item displayed here represents their resilience, growth, and commitment to rebuilding their lives,” he noted. The event is coordinated by Dr. Suman Badhal ,faculty Incharge, Vocational Guidance Section, who shared that contributions from more than 50 patients have been showcased. “This exhibition provides a vital platform for patients to present their work, boost self-esteem, and explore economic possibilities. With appropriate guidance and support, limitations can be transformed into strengths,” she added. The exhibition offers a range of handcrafted garments, utility items, and decorative products that beautifully integrate traditional techniques with modern design elements. The four-day event is open to hospital staff, visitors, and the general public, encouraging collective support for this empowerment-focused rehabilitation initiative.
