15th CIDC Vishwakarma Awards

GAIL, India’s Natural Gas leader and one of the Maharatna PSUs, bags prestigious  “Achievement Award for Best Construction Projects” wherein Barauni - Guwahati Natural Gas Pipeline Project (A part of PM Urja Ganga Gas Pipeline project) was recognised. This Pipeline connects the north-eastern states of the country with the National Gas Grid. The 718 Km pipeline connects various customers such as IOCL refineries at Guwahati & Bongaigaon, 9 GAs (City Gas Distribution) across the states of Bihar, West Bengal and Assam. Deepak Gupta, Director  &  A K Tripathi, ED along with other GAIL officials received the award Notably, this pipeline includes a 3.6 km HDD crossing of the Brahmaputra River, the longest at that time, and 4 river major crossings using the micro-tunnelling technique for the first time by GAIL.

A K Tripathi, ED(Projects), GAIL received the “Achievement Award for Public Officer” for his outstanding contributions. The ‘CIDC Vishwakarma Awards’ are inspired by the spirit of construction and creation patronized by Lord Vishwakarma, the ruling deity of construction practices in India. The ‘CIDC Vishwakarma Awards’ have become the epitome for motivating individuals and organizations to raise their performance in their specific domains leading to significant contribution towards the growth & development of the Indian Construction Industry. Over the years, GAIL as a major gas pipeline operator has contributed to the growth and development of Natural Gas pipeline infrastructure and Natural Gas market. It has an existing ~16050 Km. of Natural gas pipeline network under operation. GAIL’s existing natural gas pipeline network covers 20 States .
