Postgraduate Degree Award Ceremony -2024

New Delhi :- VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital organized the Degree Award Ceremony for students of Post Graduate programs who qualified the University examinations in years 2018, 2019 & 2020, since their degrees could not be awarded during the Covid pandemic. It was held in the Dr Ambedkar International Centre on 16th May 2024 and the occasion was graced by the Hon’ble, Secretary to Govt of India, Department of Health Research, & Director General ICMR, Dr Rajiv Bahl, Vice Chancellor, GGSIP University.
Principal, VMMC -Prof Geetika Khanna stated that the institution had firmly established itself as an Institute of Excellence in the medical field by showing remarkable progress in many key areas, like providing quality education, opening prestigious opportunities for impactful research; and thereby enhancing the standards of patient care. These landmark achievements were made possible only due to an extremely motivated faculty; inspired students and raising  of critical support infrastructure and facilities, which was enabled by the support of DGHS & Honorable Minister of Health & Family Welfare.
Medical Superintendent, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, Dr Vandana Talwar, in her address said ... Students You have chosen a path which is not a profession. I believe it is a calling . The relationship between the doctor and the patient is not transactional even if there is a monetary consideration involved. It requires not merely knowledge and skills but also the ability to empathise, the ability to wipe off the tears, and to provide emotional support when required.
Ceremony was attended by 210 post graduates and 36 medals were awarded to meritorious students .Chief Guest, Dr Rajiv Bahl, stated  that VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital was a front runner in  medical colleges and exhorted the graduates to pursue research. Honble Vice chancellor, Prof Mahesh Verma, reiterated that VMMC was the jewel in GGSIP University”s crown, with the best students and maximum courses.
